The impact of Taqwa on Human health

Alhamdulillah Islam is a great way of life. In Islam, self-control (Taqwa) Plays a vital role in a Muslim’s life. Managing health, especially conditions like diabetes and other metabolic disorders require discipline and self-control. The Quran emphasizes the importance of moderation in eating and drinking.

“O children of Adam, take your adornment at every masjid, and eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess.Surah Al-A’raf [7:31].

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also encouraged healthy living through balanced eating habits and regular physical activity.Narrated Al-Miqdam ibn Ma’dikarib: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said,

For individuals managing diabetes, self-control is the key in maintaining a healthy diet, monitoring blood sugar levels, and adhering to treatment plans. By practicing Taqwa, Muslims can strengthen their resolve to make healthy choices, even when faced with temptations.The month of Ramadan filled with lots of blessings by Allah SWA and can be a great opportunity for individuals with diabetes to practice self-control and discipline. By planning meals according to Suhoor and Iftar timings, choosing dates and water for Iftar, and including fiber-rich foods in their diet, individuals can regulate their sugar levels. Staying hydrated, especially during hot summer months, is also essential to maintain and regular a healthy life.

The son of Adam does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat a few mouthfuls to keep his spine straight. But if he must (fill it), then one third for food, one third for drink, and one third for his breath.”

Regular physical activity, like walking, can help manage blood sugar levels. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encouraged physical activity, saying, “A strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than a weak one” (Sahih Muslim),This emphasizes the value of physical strength, though it also refers to spiritual strength. By combining Islamic principles with modern health knowledge, individuals can effectively manage their condition and lead a healthy, balanced life. This holistic approach can lead to overall well-being and spiritual growth. As Allah says in the Quran, “And He has made some of you superior in strength, and others of you He has given wealth and possessions” (16:71).
